What Time Is PlayStation State of Play Today? Sept. 3 Start Time and How to Watch


 PlayStation’s next State of Play takes place today, Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, and U.S. viewers will need to tune in unusually early.

What Will PlayStation Show?

Sony has kept most of the announcements secret, which is normal for State of Play.

The company says the first presentation will contain updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners.

One major game has already been confirmed.

The presentation will conclude with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the final installment in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII remake project.

That makes the upcoming RPG the clearest known highlight before the show begins.

Sony has not published a complete list of every game appearing in the event, so rumors about other surprise announcements should not be treated as confirmed.

What Is Final Fantasy VII Revelation?

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the third and final game in Square Enix’s modern remake trilogy.

It follows Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and is currently scheduled for release in 2027.

PlayStation’s official game page says the final chapter will feature a large interconnected world that players can explore using the Highwind airship. It will also bring additional party members into combat and continue the action-and-command battle system used in the earlier games.

Sony has not said exactly what will be revealed during today’s extended segment.

That could include gameplay, locations or other details, but anything beyond Sony’s confirmed promise of an extended look remains speculation until the presentation airs.

What Is State of Play Japan?

Today’s event is unusual because the normal State of Play is only the first half of the schedule.

Immediately after it ends, Sony will air State of Play Japan.

The second show is hosted by Japanese voice actor Yuki Kaji and focuses more heavily on upcoming games from developers in Japan and elsewhere in Asia.

Sony says viewers can expect:

  • New gameplay
  • Game announcements
  • Deeper looks at upcoming titles
  • Updates from Japanese and Asian studios

State of Play Japan will be broadcast in Japanese, but English subtitles will be available.

For U.S. viewers interested mainly in Japanese games, it may be worth leaving the stream running after the first presentation finishes.

How Long Will State of Play Last?

Sony has not announced an official runtime for the Sept. 3 broadcasts.

That is an important distinction because previous State of Play presentations have varied considerably in length.

Sony has only confirmed that the two programs will air consecutively, with State of Play Japan beginning immediately after the regular State of Play.

If you are watching live, it would be safer not to plan around an assumed 30-minute or one-hour runtime.

No.

The broadcast itself is a free livestream, so you do not need:
