Dyson has officially entered the toothbrush business, and its first model is far more complicated than a typical electric toothbrush.
The new Dyson CameraJet costs $499.99 and combines a sonic toothbrush, built-in camera and automatic liquid jet designed to clean between teeth while you brush.
It launched in the U.S. on Sept. 1, 2026, in Ceramic Pink and Ceramic Ultra Blue. Dyson’s U.S. site is already showing at least the Ceramic Pink model as currently out of stock, so availability may vary as the product rolls out.

What Exactly Is the Dyson CameraJet?
The CameraJet is essentially three devices combined into one.
It functions as an electric toothbrush, a targeted liquid flosser and a tiny intraoral camera that can show you a live view inside your mouth through the MyDyson app.
The most unusual feature is what Dyson calls Gap Optical Targeting.
A 100,000-pixel macro camera inside the brush analyzes up to 28 images every second. Dyson’s machine-learning system then attempts to identify the spaces between your teeth.
When it detects one, the toothbrush can automatically send a short, cone-shaped burst of mouth rinse into the gap.
Dyson says the detection and jet process can happen within about one-tenth of a second.
Does the Camera Actually Show the Inside of Your Mouth?
Yes.
Users can connect the CameraJet to the MyDyson app and view live footage from inside their mouth while brushing.
The app also provides features such as:

You can also use the camera separately to inspect your teeth.
For anyone wondering about the obvious privacy question, Dyson says the live camera images are not stored on the toothbrush, inside the app or in Dyson’s cloud.

How Does the Built-In Flosser Work?
The CameraJet has a small liquid reservoir built into the device.
Before brushing, you fill that tank with mouth rinse using the included docking station.
While using the automatic brushing-and-jet mode, the camera looks for spaces between teeth. Once it identifies a gap, a pump sends a controlled burst of liquid through a nozzle.
Unlike a conventional water flosser that typically produces a narrow continuous stream, Dyson designed its jet with a wider cone-shaped spray.
There are three main cleaning modes:
- Brush and Auto-jet
- Auto-jet only
- Brush only
There are also three brushing intensity settings called Gentle, Variable and Deep Clean.
It is important to treat claims about cleaning performance as manufacturer claims rather than assuming the device will be appropriate for every person. Dyson says its system was developed with input from dental professionals and tested in clinical and laboratory studies.

Do You Need Special Dyson Toothpaste?
Not necessarily, but the type of toothpaste matters.
Dyson recommends using SLS-free, low-foaming or non-foaming toothpaste and mouth rinse with the CameraJet.
The reason is surprisingly simple: too much foam can get in the way of the camera.
Dyson has developed its own toothpaste and mouth rinse designed for the system, but those products are separate from the basic idea of how the toothbrush works.
The company’s FAQ says SLS-free toothpaste and mouth rinse are recommended for the best performance. If too much foam develops, users may need to clear their mouth while brushing.
What Comes in the $499 Box?
The CameraJet package includes considerably more hardware than a standard electric toothbrush.

How Long Does the Battery Last?
Dyson rates the CameraJet for up to 10 days of battery life on a full charge under its specified usage conditions.
The device is also rated IPX7 for water resistance.
According to Dyson, that means it can withstand immersion in water up to one meter deep for as long as 30 minutes. The company says it can also be used in the shower.
A travel-safe mode is included for carrying the toothbrush in hand luggage without unnecessarily draining the battery.
Can You Buy the Dyson CameraJet Right Now?
Officially, the CameraJet launched in the U.S. on Sept. 1 for $499, but getting one immediately may not be simple.
As of Sept. 2, Dyson’s U.S. product page for the Ceramic Pink version displays “Currently out of stock” along with an option to sign up for a restock notification.
Stock can change quickly and may differ by color or Dyson Demo Store, so shoppers interested in the device should check the live product listing rather than relying on an older availability report.
Dyson originally announced two colors: Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink.
Is a $499 Toothbrush Really Necessary?
That is the bigger consumer question.
The CameraJet costs much more than a conventional manual toothbrush and considerably more than many mainstream premium electric toothbrushes.
What you are paying for is not simply more brushing power.
The extra cost goes toward features such as:
- The internal camera
- Automatic gap detection
- Liquid jet system
- App-based live viewing
- Coverage tracking
- Refill dock
- Replaceable battery
- Connected brush-head monitoring
Whether those features justify nearly $500 will depend heavily on how much someone values the automation and tracking.
For most shoppers, this is better viewed as a premium consumer-tech product rather than an inexpensive replacement for an ordinary toothbrush.
What makes it interesting is the larger idea behind it.
Dyson has taken the same approach it has used with vacuums, hair dryers and air treatment products and applied it to one of the most ordinary objects in the bathroom.
