When Can Everyone Order Chipotle’s New Chili Lime Chips? The Rewards-Only Window Ends Sept. 4


 Chipotle’s new Chili Lime Chips are about to become available to everyone.

The limited-time side officially rolls out to all customers on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026. Until then, the chips are available early as a digital exclusive for Chipotle Rewards members through the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com.

That means you do not need to join Chipotle Rewards if you are willing to wait until Sept. 4.

What Are Chipotle Chili Lime Chips?

Chili Lime Chips are Chipotle’s first new seasoned tortilla-chip option tied to its latest limited-time menu launch.

The chips are prepared with real lime and a chili seasoning, giving Chipotle customers an alternative to the chain’s standard lime-and-salt tortilla chips.

Chipotle says the side contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

The company introduced the chips alongside a redesigned version of Pollo Asado, marking the first time Chipotle has launched two limited-time menu items at the same time.

Both products arrived Aug. 31, but their availability schedules are slightly different.

Pollo Asado was immediately available to everyone, while Chili Lime Chips began with an early-access period for Rewards members.

When Can Non-Rewards Members Order Them?

The date to remember is Friday, Sept. 4.

Starting that day, Chipotle says the new chips will become available to all customers.

Before Sept. 4, Rewards members can order them digitally using:

  • The Chipotle app
  • Chipotle.com
  • Chipotle.ca in Canada

The early-access period began Aug. 31.

So if you open the Chipotle app before Sept. 4 and see the new chips but someone else cannot order them, Rewards status may be the reason.

Once the nationwide rollout begins Sept. 4, the Rewards-only requirement ends.

Why Did Chipotle Make Chili Lime Chips?

The idea came partly from something customers were already doing on their own.

Chipotle says it noticed customers pairing their meals with packaged seasoned chips from other brands.

Some people used flavored chips instead of a fork to scoop up burrito bowls. Others crushed seasoned chips over their food or poured bowls directly into chip bags to create a version of a walking taco.

According to Chipotle, social-media mentions of seasoned chips paired with Chipotle meals increased by more than 1,500% since 2022.

The company says related TikTok and Instagram content generated roughly 96 million engagements.

Instead of simply watching the trend, Chipotle developed its own seasoned chip.

That makes Chili Lime Chips a good example of an unofficial customer food hack becoming an actual restaurant menu item.

What Is the New Pollo Asado?

The other half of Chipotle’s fall launch is an updated Pollo Asado.

Chipotle previously offered Pollo Asado, but the 2026 version uses a new recipe.

The chicken is grilled with adobo and seasoned with garlic and Mexican spices. It is then finished with cilantro, citrus and real lime.

Chipotle describes the final flavor as savory and smoky with a brighter citrus finish.

Unlike Chili Lime Chips, there is no Rewards-only early-access period for Pollo Asado.

The updated chicken became available to all customers in the U.S. and Canada on Aug. 31.

Both Pollo Asado and Chili Lime Chips are limited-time items.

Is There a Free Delivery Deal?

There is a separate promotion connected to the Pollo Asado launch.

Through Sept. 13, Chipotle is offering a $0 delivery fee on qualifying Pollo Asado orders placed through the Chipotle app or Chipotle website.

There are several important restrictions.

The order must:

  • Include a Pollo Asado entrée
  • Meet a minimum order of $10 in the U.S.
  • Be placed through Chipotle’s own app or website
  • Be within a participating delivery area

Third-party delivery apps do not qualify for the promotion.

Also, a $0 delivery fee does not necessarily mean the entire delivery costs the same as picking up the meal yourself.

Chipotle states that higher menu prices are charged for delivery, and additional service or other fees may apply depending on location.

The promotion is scheduled to run through Sept. 13, although availability and other restrictions apply.

How Does Chipotle Recommend Eating the New Chips?

Chipotle’s culinary team suggests pairing the Chili Lime Chips with the new Pollo Asado.

Its recommended bowl includes:

  • Pollo Asado
  • White rice
  • Black beans
  • Roasted chili-corn salsa
  • Guacamole

The new chips can then be used on the side for additional crunch or to scoop up the bowl.

Of course, you do not need to order that specific combination.

The chips are designed as a side and can be paired with other Chipotle entrées as well.

Given that the original inspiration came from customers creating their own combinations, using the chips with burrito bowls may be one of the more obvious ways to try them.

How Long Will Chili Lime Chips Be Available?

Chipotle has confirmed that Chili Lime Chips are a limited-time menu item, but it has not announced a nationwide final day for the product.

The same applies to the new Pollo Asado.

That means Sept. 4 is the nationwide starting date for general availability, not a guarantee that every restaurant will have the chips indefinitely.

Individual locations can also run into temporary product availability differences.

If you specifically want to try them, checking the Chipotle app or website for your local restaurant before making a trip is the safest approach.

For anyone who does not use Chipotle Rewards, the answer is now simple:

Wait until Friday, Sept. 4, when Chili Lime Chips become available to all Chipotle customers.
